Your first step will be to contact me by phone or email so that I can tell you a bit more about how I work. If you decide that you’d like to seek some help with your eating issues, we’ll arrange an initial assessment, where we can decide if working together will be helpful for you.
The initial assessment will last for 90 minutes. During this time we’ll discuss your current eating patterns, your hopes and fears around your relationship with food and your body and what you’d like to achieve from this support.
Subsequent sessions will last 50 minutes. Frequency and number of sessions depends on your individual needs. Ideally sessions would occur weekly, at the same time and place each week. This allows us to build a strong, trusting relationship and to help you move forward effectively towards a healthy relationship with food and body.
What to expect from a consultation.
Most importantly, everything we talk about is confidential and completely free of any judgement. This is a safe space for you to open your heart and really explore your relationship with food and your body. Often we can feel a deep shame about disordered eating habits and it can be difficult to speak about your thoughts, feelings and habits. My aim is to provide a safe environment for you deeply explore and understand yourself and your relationship with food. There are no diet plans to follow and no weighing and measuring. I will be there to gently guide and support you in understanding the origins and triggers for your food and body image issues and to help you make peace with food and eating. We’ll work together to find ways of eating and caring for your health that work positively for you as an individual.
